Brigitte Bardot-inspired mascara and lashes are big this spring season, with Chanel’s recent runway show in Paris a sign of what’s to come.  “If you want to add depth to your eyes, opt for a waterproof mascara and apply it to both top and bottom lashes,” said Kisnorbo. “Add colour to your eye lid for those who are more confident in their mission to adopt a 60s styling.”

What makeup works well with millinery such as fedoras, boaters and wide-brim hats?  

“A natural, subtle face will go with any hat style. A wide-brimmed hat will create shadow, so keeping eyes natural avoiding a heavy eye will be more flattering for the daytime,” said Smith. 

“If you are wearing a sculptural piece or a wide brimmed hat and want more drama, a clean winged eye with mascara is my go-to for daytime as it gives definition. I love the Clarins Graphic Ink Liner in black for this and the Supra Volume Mascara.” 

How can we get a 90s-inspired look for eyes this season? 

“The 90s eyes were so varied, from super-grunge smokey lived-in looks, to all the shades of blue and teal, 

The Clarins Eye Quartet in Midnight Gradation or Teal Gradation is great to try the blue or teal colour trend, as you can go as light or as intense as you like,” said Smith. 

“The supermodel look was monochromatic with an emphasis on plums and burgundies and about elongating and shading. For this, I’d try the Clarins Eye Quartet in fairy-tale nude or rosewood gradation with lashings of mascara top and bottom. A black liner on the waterline and extended out from the corner gives extra intensity for the evening.”

How do we create a natural polished skin look for the races this year? 

“Use a sheet mask on top of your skin prep routine to hydrate and give your skin a boosted glow. Try La Mer Treatment Lotion Mask. Always follow with a primer to help your foundation last all day. Try Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer. It’s my favourite product. The eyeliner I love using in the waterline is Charlotte Tilbury. These products will make your eyes appear larger and fresh. If you prefer the cat-eye look, I highly recommend Shiseido Archliner Ink. This will give you great precision and is long lasting, which is something we need when at the track all day.” 

What beauty product should you take to the races that will work all day?  

“It is not very sexy, but a must-have beauty product is eyelash glue. Nothing ruins a day on the track more than eyelashes falling off due to high winds, dust, allergies or rain. Compact powder is also essential.” 

How do we keep our hair spring chic? 

“I’m loving two hair styles – either the straight, blunt bob or long, low pony. I am a traditionalist and prefer hats to be worn. These two looks are fashionable and also practical when wearing chic spring hats. “
