Why? Fashions on the field and racing fashion? I absolutely adore racing fashion. I find that it is one of the most beautiful feminine ways to express yourself whilst being a little bit courageous and sometimes edgier way as well. My one true love for the event is not necessarily the actual competition, but I absolutely love when I walk through a crowd on race day feeling like and absolute lady. I just love to be able to continue the tradition whilst watching it evolve. I haven’t entered a competition for many years however I've always wanted to enter the fashions on the field at Flemington, but I've never really felt like I had the right outfit. I decided to enter the competition after finally obtaining a dress from Bathini, who is located in Johannesburg. I came across her designs on social media about eight years ago and fell in love with them and approached her to purchase a dress and she wasn't able to facilitate that because she didn't have the resources to be able send it over. I kept watching from a far feeling very envious of her designs and then finally after much persistence I was able to purchase a masterpiece of a dress from her and when it arrived, I just fell in love and knew that it would be perfect for a Flemington. My vintage accessories being my beautiful bag I purchased online for Fashions on the Field event about nine years ago, and I've just found that it's so beautiful that I cannot find anything else that is able to compare. My gloves again, vintage. I have to thank my wonderful mum for these, for when I first entered into fashions in the field many, many years ago, I was trying to locate specific-coloured gloves. And my mom, bless her heart, went on a glove finding mission and arrived at my house one day with a box full of vintage gloves which she had been sourcing from all over the place. So, these ones have been sitting patiently waiting for an outing. My millinery is from Danica Erard. I absolutely adore Danica's pieces, and I find that they are classic and beautiful, but they have a great modern twist Dainca’s use uses of different fabrics and leathers and metals and bits and pieces really make the head pieces pop out. My head place in this in this outfit is Vintage Lace and then the Leather Gold over the top. It was actually two pieces. However, we felt that on their own they weren't enough, so we've popped them together to bring out the green in the dress, but also accentuate the gold throughout the outfit.
