Best Dressed Competition 2023

We holidayed in Hamilton Island earlier this year for a family members milestone birthday and it was such a magical time I wanted to create an outfit to convey the brightness and joy of the time we spent in Queensland. I wanted to make the style of the dress to compliment the climate so sleeveless was the definitive choice and I added a high neck at the front to add interest and give the dress a 1960’s yet still modern vibe. When planning this outfit I knew straight away that the Millinery, bag and shoes had to be Orange - to me this is the quintessential tropical Summer colour and the fabric pieces used to make the dress were strategically positioned to tie in with the Citrus hue of my accessories. The dress itself is made up of nine seperate pieces of vintage linen textile, patchworked together to create a seamless flow and tell a story. Due to the design of the dress I wanted a piece of Millinery to compliment the look without overpowering it so I commissioned my talented local Milliner Pamela from Locopa Designs to make me this simple feather button headpiece. I finished off the look with a bag from Forever New, heels from Myer and vintage bangles and earrings from my own personal collection.
