Best Dressed Competition 2023
Australia, QLD
As an ink dot illustration artist, I often draw inspiration from our breathtaking Outback scenes. My outfit is a living canvas, telling the story of a thriving Winton and its vibrant, ever-changing colours. It's not just an ensemble but a heartfelt representation of our community's resilience and the beauty that thrives in even the harshest of environments. In this outfit, I carry the spirit of Winton to Melbourne, showcasing the stunning Outback to a broader audience and celebrating our rare and bountiful wildflower season with pride. I proudly present my Melbourne Cup outfit, a true homage to my home town and its stunning Outback landscapes. As an ink dot illustration artist deeply connected to my surroundings, I drew inspiration from the rich, vibrant burnt oranges and golden hues that define our place here. My Fashions on the Field entry is a celebration of our remarkable local environment and the extraordinary wildflower season we've experienced in our semi-arid region. The focal point of my outfit is a mesmerising light orange chiffon dress adorned with delicate dots peeking through its pleats. Intricate metallic golden feather embroidery across the dress, shimmering tribute to the avian wonders of our skies, while the turquoise flora appliqués reflect the newfound abundance of wildflowers that have graced our Western Queensland Shire this season.
