Growing up I learnt to sew from my grandmother and how to read a form guide from my grandfather. I have always had a passion for races, racing fashion and millinery. This dress has been a long process with the end goal of featuring it in a FOTF entry. I first cut this dress out in 2020, and after a lot of sewing, unpicking, resewing, more unpicking and more sewing it's finally finished. I brought the linen from Spotlight in 2019 and the combination of red, blue and brown floral print made the fabric stand out, and I knew it would become something special and unique. I crafted the millinery from sinamay, the linen fabric and matching flowers, drawing inspiration from the triangle features of the boddice.
